About Maccabi Hockey Club
Maccabi Hockey Club competes in the Hockey Victoria winter competition and provides opportunities for players across all age groups and experience levels.
Our pathway begins at under 10 level and continues through to Veterans hockey. Many of our players continue competing well into their 60s, reflecting the lifelong nature of the sport.
Our Philosophy
We are an inclusive and welcoming club committed to providing an enjoyable and rewarding playing experience.
Our focus is on developing players throughout their hockey journey. We work to ensure each player learns the technical, tactical and physical skills required to compete with confidence. At every level, we aim to balance competitiveness with enjoyment.
Our coaches are experienced and committed to motivating, teaching and challenging players to improve.
Player Development
Field hockey is a highly skill-based sport. Playing with a stick demands coordination, control, balance and game awareness. Through structured training and regular competition, players develop:
-
Technical skill and ball control
-
Speed and endurance
-
Strength and agility
-
Mental resilience
-
Communication and teamwork
Hockey builds confidence, discipline and strong team connections. It is a sport that rewards commitment and provides lifelong benefits.
Community & Contribution
The strength of our club comes from the contribution of players, families and volunteers.
We encourage members to get involved beyond the field, whether as team managers, helpers or supporters. Community involvement plays a vital role in sustaining a strong and connected club environment.
Location
Our home ground is Elwood College, Shelley Street.
All training and matches are played on artificial turf.
